Marrie Y. Schaefer

Marrie Schaefer is the Foreign Policy Advisor to the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she serves as the U.S. Department of State Liaison and Advisor to the Commanding General of the U.S. Marine Corps, Pacific Command. Prior to joining MARFORPAC, she was the Public Diplomacy Advisor at the U.S. Pacific Command where she served as the lead delegate to the Symposium on East Asia Security in Beijing, Canberra, and Hanoi. In her previous assignment as Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she directed a broad range of public diplomacy activities, including media relations and educational/cultural exchanges.

Ms. Schaefer holds a B.S. and M.S. from Northern Illinois University and a Certificate in Organization Development from Georgetown University. A recipient of U.S. Department of State Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards, Ms. Schaefer speaks Japanese, French, and Bahasa Malaysia. An opera lover, and avid cyclist, skier, and hiker, she is married to retired Foreign Service Officer, Robert R. Kuntz II.
