Ambassador Vilama Socorro Martinez is the current U.S. Ambassador to Argentina. She is from San Antonio and received her law degree from Colombia. After graduation she joined the Legal Defense and Educational Fund of the NAACP. In this role she represented a number of poor and minority clients. She then joined Chaill, Gordon, & Reindel in New York and joined the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, one of the first two women to do so. She was appointed as U.S. ambassador to Argentina in 2009 and is the first women to fill the post. She and her husband have two sons.
